The Gabriel Schillinger-Hyman quartet performs “Ode To The Piano”, a presentation of some of the most moving yet chronically underplayed jazz masterpieces of the 20th century. In addition to fringe masterpieces by Duke Ellington, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Dr. Don Shirley, Geri Allen, and Bill Evans, special attention will be given to less-played works by Jewish composers and performers including Victor Young, Hyman Arluck, Yip Harburg, Larry Harlow, and Dorothy Fields. This performance will be complemented by historical storytelling, in which listeners will learn about the pianists’ body of work as well as the more intimate parts of their personal lives.
